Rootling Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2, 2026

Short version: Rootling does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information about your child. There are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no third-party trackers of any kind in the app today. Everything a child does in Rootling stays on the device.

Rootling ("the app") is an early-childhood learning app made by Trevexs Technology Ltd ("we," "us," "our"). This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and what rights you have as a parent or caregiver.

Who this policy covers

Rootling is designed for children ages 3–6, always used with a parent or caregiver's involvement. This policy is written for the adult who downloads and manages the app on the child's behalf.

Information we collect

In the app's current version, we collect no personal information about you or your child, and no information ever leaves the device. Specifically:

Information stored on the device

To let a child continue where they left off, the app stores the following locally on the device only, using the device's own storage:

None of this local data is transmitted to us or to any third party. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.

Content delivery

The app downloads learning content (images, narration audio, and activity data) from our content delivery network so it can be played, including offline. These downloads do not include any information that identifies you or your child — only which content files are being requested, in the same way any app fetches images or files from the internet.

Caregiver ("adult") mode

Rootling includes an adult-gated area for parents/caregivers to view a child's progress and manage downloaded content. Entering this area requires a simple in-app gesture and age confirmation (not a password or personal information) to keep it out of reach of young children. No information from this area leaves the device.

Advertising and third-party services

Rootling contains no advertising, no in-app purchases that involve sharing personal data with third parties, and no third-party SDKs beyond the standard, non-tracking components that any Expo/React Native app requires to function (e.g. rendering, audio playback, and local storage libraries) — none of which collect or transmit personal information.

Children's privacy

Because Rootling is intended for young children, we deliberately built it to collect nothing that would require special handling under children's privacy laws (such as COPPA in the United States) — there is simply no personal data collected to protect. As the product grows (for example, if we later add optional caregiver accounts for syncing progress across devices), this policy will be updated first, and any such data collection will require explicit caregiver consent before it is enabled.

Changes to this policy

If what the app collects ever changes — for example, when caregiver accounts are introduced in a future version — we will update this page and update the "Last updated" date above. We will not silently reduce the privacy protections described here for existing data without your consent.

Data protection and applicable law

Trevexs Technology Ltd is registered in Uganda and this app is built with Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 in mind as our primary compliance framework, alongside applicable app store requirements (including Apple's App Store guidelines for apps directed at children).
